SHARE TWEET By: Teresa Osborne, Secretary of Aging Pennsylvania to Highlight Importance of Preventing Elder Abuse Seniors, The Blog The Department of Aging is proud to announce that Pennsylvania will be hosting another national event: the 27th Annual National Adult Protective Services Association (NAPSA) Conference.The department is honored to serve as the primary sponsor for the NAPSA conference, which will be held August 29-31, 2016, at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. The conference features the country’s leading adult protective services professionals and provides opportunity for them to share their knowledge and expertise with others.Recently, as part of the June 15th recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we paused with communities around the globe to raise awareness about elder abuse, and we recognized the work of 46 adult protective services investigators who received the 2016 Protective Services Leadership award. The Department of Aging was pleased to applaud the work of those who respond to elder abuse every day in their local communities, and encourages all Pennsylvanians to become involved in the prevention of elder abuse to ensure the safety and well-being of older adults.The conference theme is “Protect, Prevent, and Empower”. Skill building and networking opportunities are embedded within the conference, which is designed for adult protective services professionals, attorneys, educators, bankers, case workers, law, enforcement officers, and advocates.
